Windows 8 is not a working man's OS

Microsoft - Windows 8 is not a working man's OS
I use HP laptops for my music business. My business is providing Music services for Church and other charitable organizations. I do it for FREE. My last laptop failed so I bought a new one but neither HP or MICROSOFT gave any warning that Windows 8 would not run my programs. In fact, to run the software and music I have paid dearly for, I have to relicense everything including every song I have. I have purchased every song. I have licensed all the software I use to play this music. Why do I have to repurchase everything I've paid for? Why don't we have a choice of an OS. My Laptop is simply a tool. When the tool fails, it needs to be replaced. But when I replaced the tool nothing works. Imagine, you are a carpentar. Your hammer breaks so you go purchase a new one. Imagine to your surprise, that before you can use your new hammer you have to upgrade it, wait for hours before you can use it. Then every other day you have to upgrade it again. Who put Microsoft in charge of what I need? Why do computer manufactures bow down to Microsoft? Why can't we, (that means you too), chose our OS? At the end of the day, Microsoft and computer manufacturers need us more than we need them. Learn this, practice this, understand this! Not everyone wants to do social media. Thanks to Eric Snowden, we now know we should avoid social media. But me, I just want to buy a computer with an OS I can use.

If you think that NSA is bad read the service agreement that you must agree to activate Office 2013. Then try to get the exchange to refund your money when you attempt to return it.http://www.pissedconsumer.com/reviews-by-company/microsoft/windows-8-is-not-a-working-man-s-os-201307****3421.html#

Windows 8 activation key blocked

I've contacted Microsoft many times to get a new drive installation activated because a drive that I had been using for more a few months was blocked from working. The software was purchased from Amazon prior to release of 8 in October of 2012. As a result of software stopping disk from working both drives with windows 8 on one drive with windows 7 professional along with files were now unaccessable. I needed to now to reinstall on new drives losing past information but now the products I had paid for and registered with Microsoft site (record of file should be on file). Much time lost. Monopoly business practices practiced. Had problems previously with a completely different version of windows 7 professional. I think Bill Gates should have to complainees but then his idea of customer concerns would never get past entry person. I guess after you are rich your product can fail and you Bill are not bothered. Too bad competion no longer exists.

Similar issue happened to me. Got it with a new laptop, had to restore...

boom, key blocked (yes, the one hardcoded into the freaking machine). They won't support it since it's supposedly a manufacturer problem. Their techs will not tell me what is wrong with the key. This laptop is now running a GNU OS.

Yeah, certainly not optimal because now I can't run a bunch of stuff like Netflix, but I'm not having their *** anymore.

Microshafted again! :( This certainly has me looking into Apple products a bit more seriously now.

Ms office sp2 - install ***

downloading ms office sp2 turns into a *** install after downloading hundreds of MB. it seems the reason is missing msi file for 'single image', a program I never noticed. 1 - how can an update be halting because of missing an update file? 2 - can you download/feed the drive with hundreds of mb to halt with no check? and no possible clear? 3 - I do not care about install rights for stuff I did not explicitly bought. I bought OFFICE not a bunch of related progs. 4 - now my pc is *** with *** that's impossible to clear.... old ms style. Every savvy man now's turning google. MS is terminal ***.

Microsoft Products and Customer Service

Microsoft products do not communicate when you purchase new versions-their solution is to purchase additional upgraded software. Their customer support which is not local, have broken English and are literally reading from manuals while trying to solve your problem. Wasted 5 hours on the phone to get NO WHERE. Come to find out that they are not able to help after waiting for or an additional 3 hours and the line gets disconnected. So I purchased software that is "not in my account" and I am not able to activate it. THIS IS A SCAM. DO NOT PURCHASE OFFICE 2013 products!

Wasteful food ad for Microsoft Office 365

As if saying that wasting food is not a world issue, and using food as nothing to be concerned with, Microsoft ad personnel (or an overpriced ad agency) now use smashed watermelons in some ridiculous ad for Office 365. What the heck does this ad mean anyway ? Does one have to be a kid to "get" this ad ? What a slap in the face to people that do not have the luxury of wasting food ! Ad appeared in The Seattle Times newspaper on Saturday, July 29, 2013 on page A5. Microsoft should be more aware and ashamed of itself for showing two teens laughing and smiling, while holding their phone and pad, while watermelons are smashed and splattered on the ground.

Microsoft sucks... again

Our company just went to the Microsoft 2010 office suite (so we're behind the times, who cares). I am totally disappointed that Microsoft (idiots, to put it lightly) changed the calendar reminder tool on Outlook. Now it doesn't pop up on top of all opened desktop applications. It just sits behind everything as *** as it can be. What in the **** were they thinking!?! The purpose of a reminder is to get your attention, you know, to REMIND you of an event that may be critical to you. Sorry Gamers, there are a lot of users out there that do more than just play games with Microsoft PC's. And in a loud environment, the audible reminder doesn't cut it. Microsoft, *** people, why not make an option for the user to choose to force it to the top, or stay behind. Now there's a great idea.

Software fraud

In January I purchased a dell laptop with up graded windows 7 professional, may 10th a notice popped up in the lower right hand corner of my screen saying this copy of windows is not genuine, so I contacted the company on ebay about the problem, she responded with just send the laptop back and she would reinstall it, I asked her to give my the product key and she responded with there is no product key, so I said to her then how can you reinstall it legally..she is refusing to fix this problem, next I reported it to microsoft and got nothing there was a techn, who chatted with my friend and he said that product ID was blocked by microsoft for over use, I have submitted a number of reports to microsft and was told they would get back to me within 24 hrs Im not getting anything from ebay or microsoft and also read that they would send me a complimentary copy of my windows 7 pro because of fraud. so am I suppose to just let someone keep on selling there fraud and not get anything done,I thought microsoft being this big company they would good at there word..Im very pissed

You purchased a used computer from some random person on ebay claiming to be a business, who installed an un-licensed version of windows on the computer, and you are complaining saying that it is Microsoft's fault?

#897485

This isn't Microsoft cheating you, it's a fraudulent seller on eBay.

Microsoft cannot help you when other people falsely install their products. Microsoft is a big company, but they aren't going to give you free software because someone else ripped you off, why should they?

Don't buy used PC's, this happens a lot.

#660894

and thats what happens when you buy used products...dont be cheap and then complain about it

Microsoft working to enforce anti consumer policies/privacy invasion with Xbox One console.

I am sending this message to all of the consumer rights organizations that I can get in contact with. There may be little interest in some kf these issues for groups like these because its a games console, but there are some very concerning things about this device and the possible uses it could have by Microsoft. One of the main consumer related issues is that the Xbox One will come with a camera that will be attached to a games console that also requires an internet connection. The camera features facial recognition technology, a heart rate monitor, the ability to record sound, the ability function even in the dark.http://www.gameskinny.com/6akyl/the-alarming-nature-of-the-xbox-ones-kinect-requirement-and-usageThis article explains some of the potential misuse a device like this could have, and why it should be an issue for consumers. I dont know if organizations like yours take requests for things to be investigated, or exposed but if you do please help look into these issues. They are also working to eliminate the secondhand market for games, disallowing the sale, trade, or borrowing of games media by private consumers. It is not released yet, and fighting it before hand is important.

Called Microsoft for assistance, was transferred 6 times!

I called Microsoft for assistance with publisher 2010. I was transferred 6 times to different departments.! They had no idea what to do, not even the tech dept. At one point they transferred me to the same department for the second time! We're talking "Microsoft", no one had any knowledge not even the publisher dept. The furthest I got was the 5th agent who gave me a case number. What good that did. After seeing this was going no where I finally gave up. Everyone was very polite so that's what kept me going. I guess I'll google for an answer.

Cancelled/Blocked Account

I have had my Microsoft Account for a number of years now and have a number of products linked to it. Two weeks ago I paid for Office 365 subscription, renewed my Xbox Live and also upgraded my SkyDrive account. Last week I woke up to an error message on my account stating it has been temporarily blocked. I phoned Microsoft a number of times only to be sent to departments that could not help me; I have wrote in forums and also emailed reports. I have had two responses back from Microsoft each stating my account has been closed due to violation of T&C but they could not discuss the reasons with me! How can they do this? I have no idea what T&Cs I have violated and reading their T&Cs there is such a broad scope to break them to be honest. Their complete lack of response of discussion is disgusting; how am I meant to even know if I have broke the T&Cs if they will not tell me what I have supposed to have done. Shame on you Microsoft!!

Sounds like this is the perfect time to read The Trial, by Franz Kafka. After that, you might try Evelyn Waugh: Decline and Fall.

Cannot get any straight talk about replacing product key

You can close this case. I do not have the number for it from March 14. I called today and had to open a new case number which was 120025****. You can close that one also. The service on this request is totally unsatisfactory. The person with whom I spoke on March 14 told me that the issue was being "escalated". When I asked what that meant, I was told that they would need some more information and would need a copy of the card that was not usable. I provided that and waited four days with no response. When I called today, I spoke with at least three or four people who told me that I had not reached the right department, even though I was transferred by another agent after describing what I needed. I finally spoke with a man whose name I think was Robert and he told me quite curtly that it was not Microsoft's fault that I had destroyed the card and there was nothing they could do. He suggested that I return the card to Best Buy and attempt to get a refund. This was the first time in two phone calls that I had heard that kind of response. I exploded a little and asked for his supervisor. The supervisor, whose name I believe was Joe, finally told me that I could contact Microsoft retail and they could give me a refund which I could then use at the Microsoft store to purchase a product key online or by telephone. He told me he would transfer me to that department and, just in case I did not get a connection, he also gave me the telephone number direct (877 – 877 – 0037). After he transferred my call, I was connected to an operator who had no idea what I needed or how to get it. I told her that I would just call the number that Joe had given me and see if I could get the service I needed. When I dialed that number, I received a message stating that that number was not in service. I called Best Buy and they will attempt to give me proper credit and a product key which I can use but that remains to be seen. Microsoft customer support seems to be composed of a bunch of people who know only how to shuttle calls and know nothing about solving problems or about how to refer a customer to a section that can solve the problem or answer the question posed. I suppose that is the reason there are innumerable complaints about Microsoft customer support on multiple complaint websites on the Internet. So, close my case as not settled satisfactorily. I will be exploring how to get as far as I can from Microsoft and your software. If you wish to contact me regarding this, my contact information is complete in the original message, as I was instructed to provide – – although I am uncertain why I was to provide it as it was totally ignored.
